Student Counselling Department

The function, role, services that the department offers to staff.

The Department of Student Counselling provides psychosocial support to all registered CPUT students through a variety of services offered. All our services are geared towards facilitating healthy student adjustment and integration into student life; and enhancing and maintaining general wellbeing and mental health. In addition, Student Counselling offers support and guidance on matters impacting on student holistic wellbeing and success. Guidance on how to assist students in crisis or distress. Department/ Staff workshops are available on how to assist students in crisis/ distress.

Be a dynamic and responsive student support department offering technologically innovative mental health services to the CPUT community that embraces oneness and diversity.

It is the mission of the Department to:

 To advocate for- and facilitate healthy student adjustment, wellness, and mental health through a student-centred approach.

 To shape students to be responsible and ethical adults through diverse and positive student engagement opportunities. 

To be a dynamic student support service that continually engages in evidence-based practice to remain accountable and relevant. 

To work towards student success through innovative practice and collaborative partnerships.
