Course Description: 

This course on research project pricing is aimed at university staff and students engaged in research.

The course is specifically designed to provide researchers with an introduction to this aspect of research and its practical application and has no admission or examination requirements.

The course will provide foundational information on the pricing and costing of research in alignment with the IPR Act (51 of 2008). The Act provides for how specific IP transactions (such as licensing of IP to industry, or assignment of IP ownership to industry) are managed by universities. This has required universities to include and provision for direct and indirect costs.

• Specific requirements in terms of costing and pricing
• Indirect Cost Recovery
• Direct Cost Recovery
• Full cost Pricing
• Explanation of the CPUT pricing template

Presented by the TTO Director, the course promises to be both exciting and rewarding while equipping researchers with a sound understanding of how relevant and indeed crucial pricing is to every endeavor.
