Course Description         

Due to the rising number of students and the need for increased flexibility, there has been a significant surge in interest in online assessment at CPUT. However, lecturers who have explored this method of assessment soon discover that designing meaningful online assessments that effectively test students' cognitive abilities is not an easy task. This workshop aims to provide an opportunity for engagement with lecturers who have experience in designing and implementing online assessments. We will explore questions such as whether online assessment simply involves transferring face-to-face assessment to an online environment, the benefits and challenges of online assessment, and the various purposes, formats, grading methods, and feedback processes involved in online assessment. Mr Jongile will present on pedagogical approaches to online assessment practices, sharing insights and practical experiences on designing and implementing assessments on Blackboard for both theoretical and practical courses.
