Course Description        

The training is to focus on providing the knowledge and skills to understand competency-based interviewing for search and selection panels.

The purpose of the training is to provide staff members with an understanding on the role of a search and selection panel, understanding competencies and its importance and to conduct effective and efficient competency-based interviews. To provide learners with interviewing skills to plan and conduct successful competency-based interviews e.g. guarding against interview biases, probing tips and evaluating/scoring interview.

Objectives:

1.To develop learners understanding of the nature of search and selection.

2.To develop the learners’ ability to understand a competency profile/job.

3.To provide learners with the understanding of the various types of interviews.

4.To provide learners with the skills of selection process preparation of panel members such as shortlisting, employment equity etc.

5.To provide learners with interviewing skills to plan and conduct successful competency-based interviews e.g. guarding against interview biases, probing tips and evaluating/scoring interview.
